The Hope & Honor 9/11 5K will be held on Thursday morning in Cedar Falls at 8:15 a.m. with check-in starting at 7:45 a.m.—individuals, businesses, and groups are invited to run, walk, or roll rain or shine in honor of the occasion.
Today, Cedar Falls Public Safety partners with Target Distribution Center to host Safety City in the parking lot, where nearly 500 kindergarteners learn about fire safety, 911, first aid, bicycle, electrical and railroad safety—an annual event running from September 9 through 12.

A Cedar Falls man was arrested for allegedly intentionally crashing his car into another vehicle in a parking lot—pinning a woman who suffered bruised legs—and he faces charges of assault causing bodily injury, leaving the scene, driving while barred and a parole violation with a $10,000 bond.
Today, construction crews in Cedar Falls begin removing and replacing the box culvert on Union Road just south of West 27th Street—this work will temporarily close the road.
On Tuesday night, North Iowa Cedar League volleyball saw the 9-2 and 11th ranked Wapsie Valley Warriors host the 7-5 and 12th ranked Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougars on Y99.3—beginning with a pre-match at 7:15 and a first serve at 7:30.
A busy Tuesday of Metro high school sports saw Cedar Falls volleyball host Dubuque Wahlert, Waterloo West play 15th-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie, and Waterloo Columbus host Hudson—while in boys cross country, Waterloo East and Cedar Ridge Christian ran at the Springville Invitational and Waterloo Columbus Catholic ran at the Go-Hawk Classic in Waverly. Cedar Falls also hosted a boys golf triangular at Pheasant Ridge, held a girls swimming dual at Linn-Mar, and played girls tennis against Cedar Rapids Jefferson as Waterloo West faced Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Waterloo Columbus Catholic met Waverly-Shell Rock.
