Reconstruction of the alley from West 16th to West 17th (between Washington Street and Main Street) will begin Monday, with city officials aiming to enhance local access and safety.

Thursday night on KWAY Country, Grand View Christian Thunder beat Wapsie Valley Warriors 7-6 in the Class 2A State Softball Championship.
The Warriors finished 21-8 and reached the title game for the first time in 57 years after key plays by Sophie Bird and Maddie Ladeburg.
The Class 1A State Softball Championship Game will air on Y99.3 this Friday as the reigning State Champion 2-seeded Clarksville Indians face 8-seeded Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings with pregame at 2:15 p.m. and first pitch at 2:30 p.m.
