Plainfield Days began Thursday night with a beer garden open from 5 to 10:30, a farmers market from 4 to 7, games and activities available from 5:30 to 7:30, a crowning ceremony at 6:30 — and live performances from 7:30 to 10 that keep the celebration going through the weekend.

Regional Softball on Wednesday night saw KWAY Country Grundy Center beat Denver 10-3 and Y99.3 Wapsie Valley win 4-2 over Hudson thanks to Espyn Decker’s key play; the Warriors — who earned a tight victory — will face Grundy Center in the semifinals Friday.

Y99.3 broadcast last Thursday night’s softball quarterfinal as the 22-7, 15th-ranked Go-Hawks hosted the 13-24 Mason City Riverhawks — the pregame began at 6:45 p.m. with first pitch at 7:00 p.m.
