Farmers State Bank is again pressing to appoint a receiver to oversee Cedar Valley Medical Specialists' finances as the company shuts down, the Courier reports. The request follows an Oct. 27 ruling in which a judge denied CVMS's bid for access to money the bank is holding.

$15 million+in loans CVMS obtained from Farmers State Bank over many years

became delinquent on repayment, and the bank filed a court petition in May 2026.

KWWL reported on Oct. 28 that over the past week, many clinics had closed and notified patients of canceled appointments. Judge David F. Staudt wrote that CVMS's own actions created the "havoc," and that a receivership agreement in May would have avoided the "alleged pain and suffering" for employees and creditors.

  • Clinics: 15 across the region
  • Services: family medicine, mental health, allergies, audiology, cardiology and more
  • CVMS lawyers said the money was needed for salaries, taxes and bills
