- ➤ City offices and the Transfer Station close on Dec. 24, 25, and Jan. 1, canceling garbage service; residents with Wednesday collections must set bins out Tuesday morning (Dec. 23) and with Thursday pick-ups on Friday morning (Dec. 26), and may use Black Hawk County Landfill if delays occur. - ➤ Black Hawk County named three snowplows from its Name a BHC Snowplow contest that began in November and featured public voting on Dec. 1. Winners will get an official t-shirt and a prize package that includes VIP tickets or a cabin stay. Y99.3

- ➤ Tuesday night, Metro high school basketball games saw Cedar Falls win in both boys and girls contests against Cedar Rapids Kennedy (79-43 and 69-40 respectively).
