  • UnityPoint Health named Jenni Friedly as its new chief operating officer effective immediately + she brings 16 years of operational experience from her role as Market President in Waterloo while Carolyn Barko serves as Interim Market President.  Y99.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City offices and the Transfer Station close on Dec. 24, 25, and Jan. 1, canceling garbage service; residents with Wednesday collections must set bins out Tuesday morning (Dec. 23) and with Thursday pick-ups on Friday morning (Dec. 26), and may use Black Hawk County Landfill if delays occur.  City of Cedar Falls
  • Black Hawk County named three snowplows from its Name a BHC Snowplow contest that began in November and featured public voting on Dec. 1. Winners will get an official t-shirt and a prize package that includes VIP tickets or a cabin stay.  Y99.3

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tuesday night, Metro high school basketball games saw Cedar Falls win in both boys and girls contests against Cedar Rapids Kennedy (79-43 and 69-40 respectively). Other winners included Cedar Rapids Xavier, Ames, Union and Cedar Ridge Christian in matchups against teams from Waterloo and Tripoli.  Iowa's Corn Country
  • Cedar Falls has hired Scott Gall as the new Girls Cross Country head coach for next fall; Gall previously led the Boys team (2019-2021) and coached at Junior High before serving as an assistant for the Girls team.  Iowa's Corn Country
