Cedar Valley Bicycle Collective hosts Christmas sales this week.
Today from 8 a.m. to noon it offers free children’s helmets, cookies, hot chocolate, affordable bikes and a visit from Santa — a similar sale is scheduled for Dec. 13.

On Dec. 4, Metro high school wrestling featured Cedar Rapids Prairie defeating Cedar Falls 60-12 while Waterloo East won in a double-dual by beating Des Moines Roosevelt 60-24 and Des Moines Lincoln 53-23.
At Girls High School Basketball last night, Karis Finley scored 12 points and surpassed 1,000 career points as the Tigers beat Dubuque Senior + 68-31 + in a Metro school contest.
High school basketball aired Friday night on Y99.3 as the Denver Cyclones hosted the Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougars in a doubleheader, with the girls game starting at 6:15 p.m. and the boys game following.
The Waterloo Black Hawks open their December schedule tonight in Omaha with a pregame show at 6:45 and a face-off at 7:05, then host Sioux City tomorrow.
UNI volleyball team reverse swept Utah on Thursday night in the NCAA Tournament — winning set scores 15-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-21, 15-10 — to advance to the second round.
The Cedar Falls boys wrestling team will host the annual Keith Young Invitational today at 10 a.m. as school teams from Ames, Cedar Rapids, Charles City, and others — including defending champion Ankeny Centennial — compete.
