Cedar Falls Downtown District will kick off its 17th annual Holiday Hoopla on November 28 in downtown Cedar Falls — garlands are hung and lights are strung — as part of its Christmas celebration.
Governor Kim Reynolds temporarily eased weight limits for transporting agricultural goods from today until December 19th (vehicles can carry up to 90,000 pounds on Iowa highways except interstates) and loads must not exceed the legal axle or posted limits (conditions still in effect).
UNI volleyball player Cassidy Hartman was named the Missouri Valley Player of the Year + UNI coach Bobbi Petersen earned Coach of the Year honors in The Valley for the fourth season in a row.
The first girls basketball rankings have been released—Waverly-Shell Rock is 9th in Class 4A and the Go-Hawks will open their season today at 7:00 on KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3 at Fort Dodge; Dunkerton is 7th in Class 1A, Denver is 3rd in Class 2A, and Cedar Falls is 13th in 5A.
