Wartburg football won its fourth consecutive American Rivers Conference by beating Buena Vista 63-20 Saturday and earned a playoff bye—its next game will be against Wheaton or Crown on November 29 in Waverly, with all playoff games hosted locally except the National Championship in Canton on January 4. Wartburg cross country teams will run this Saturday in Spartansburg, South Carolina—men ranked second nationally and the women earning an at-large bid.
Following last week’s semifinals, pairings have been set for the High School State Football Championships at the UNI-Dome.
Four games will be played on Thursday—featuring the 8-Man, Class A, Class 1A, and Class 4A matchups—and three on Friday with Class 2A, Class 3A, and Class 5A schedules.
The Cedar Falls Girls Swimming & Diving Team finished second at the state meet in Iowa City on Friday with 264 points while Dowling Catholic led with 340 points.
The team won the 200-medley relay and individual swimmers Taytem Lehman and Leah Mason earned top placements, and head coach Chelsea Szczybak was named staff of the year for the second straight year.
