Lily Dykstra from Des Moines and Reese Booth from Omaha join the UNI Volleyball team, bringing strength and skill to the court.
Dykstra, a graduate of Urbandale High School, plays outside hitter while Booth, from Elkhorn North, is a setter studying business marketing.
Thursday night on KWAY Country, the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears beat the Don Bosco Dons 51-21 + advanced to the UNI-Dome while Don Bosco ended its season 7-3.
Last night, in the 8-man state football quarterfinals, Bishop Garrigan beat Don Bosco 51-21, ending their season at 7-3, and Gladbrook-Reinbeck beat Edgewood-Colesburg 54-18 to advance to the semifinals at the UNI-Dome—where they will face Woodbine next Wednesday at 1:00.
Today on Y99.3, the Iowa Hawkeyes host Oregon in football—pregame starts at 12:30 and kickoff is at 2:30.
On Friday night, the 10-0 Wapsie Valley Warriors hosted the 9-1 Lynnville-Sully Hawks in the Class A Football Quarterfinals on Y99.3 — the winning team earned a trip to the UNI-Dome with pregame at 6:30 and kickoff at 7:00.
Denver’s volleyball team won the Class 2A state championship for the second time on Thursday night after beating Hinton in a five-set match (25-22, 26-28, 21-25, 25-18, 15-11).
The team finished the season with only one loss and named Channing Johnson as the All-Tournament Team Captain (with Bailey Mullihan and Mylee Thurm also honored).
