EDUCATION NEWS

  • UNI's biology department received a $413,000 award from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust to expand its anatomy and physiology labs. The funds will buy new anatomical models (including two SynDaver synthetic human cadavers) to improve lab learning.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting today, Cedar Falls Public Works and its contractor ASPRO will rework the southbound lanes of the Center Street Bridge approaches — shifting traffic to the northbound lanes for the work. Traffic will continue in both directions during the one-day closure.  City of Cedar Falls

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three area schools will play football playoff quarterfinals Friday night at 7 p.m.—Grundy Center will host Beckman Catholic in 1A, Wapsie Valley will play Lynnville-Sully in Class A, and Don Bosco will face Bishop Garrigan in 8-Man—and each game will decide who moves on to the state title rounds.  Iowa's Corn Country
