On Sunday, the Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Center hosted a Witches Hallow event where witches of all ages danced and shook broomsticks behind bright orange and yellow shrubbery—adding a unique twist to Halloween celebrations.

Five candidates are running to fill three seats on the Cedar Falls Board of Education.

The candidates are Kim Cross, James McCullagh, Grace Rogers, incumbent Lowell Stutzman — and Brian Wingert.

The Round of 16 State High Football Playoffs will take place Friday at 7 p.m. in all 7 classes — in 5A, Cedar Fall is hosting Iowa City West while Waterloo West faces Dowling Catholic at Mediacom Stadium; matchups in 4A, 1A, Class A and 8-Man have also been set.

Tonight, high school volleyball postseason play continues with Regional Semifinal matches in Class 1A and 2A.

In area 2A (including Denver hosting Manson-Northwest Webster, Dike-New Hartford hosting South Hardin, Grundy Center entertaining Earlham, Hudson playing at Jesup, Union facing Grandview Christian, Wapsie Valley hosting Lisbon, Aplington-Parkersburg hosting East Sac County, and Sumner-Fredericksburg playing South Winn) and in area 1A (with Cedar Ridge Christian hosting Montezuma, Janesville entertaining Rockford, Don Bosco at Gladbrook-Reinbeck, and Dunkerton hosting Edgewood-Colesburg), teams will compete tonight.
