ACCIDENTS NEWS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hansen Elementary and Holmes Junior High in Cedar Falls were placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after a nearby situation led school officials to bring students indoors. Students remained in their classrooms until an all clear was given — the details of the incident remain unclear.  Y99.3
  • Cedar Falls school board candidates will speak at a forum at Cedar Falls City Hall council chambers from 7—8:30 p.m. on Thursday as voters learn about their ideas for serving the local schools.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • Final IGHSAU volleyball rankings show that 13 local teams are featured across several classes—Cedar Falls finished with a 30-8 record in Class 5A while teams from Waukee, Ankeny and Pleasant Valley posted strong results.  Iowa's Corn Country
  • Monday night, Don Bosco swept East Buchanan 25-14, 25-15, 25-16 while North Butler beat Tripoli in four sets and both Dunkerton and Rockford won their regional matches. On Wednesday, Don Bosco will face GMG in Gilbertville, North Butler will play Janesville, Dunkerton will host Turkey Valley, and final rankings for Class 5A and 1A teams will seed the State Tournament—key details for regional play.  Y99.3
  • The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its fourth edition of rankings this season; Grundy Center is second in Class 1A, Wapsie Valley is fourth in Class A, and Gladbrook-Reinbeck is third while Don Bosco is eighth in 8-Man.
