Due to a major mechanical failure, the pool at The W is closed indefinitely — the sauna, steam room, and hot tub remain open on their normal schedule.

The hotel said it will update the repair timeline when more details are available.

On Monday, two Cedar Falls boys in the Class 4A State Golf Tournament posted scores of three over 75 and six over 78, with Drew Larimer tied for 8th and Ethan Boyle tied for 24th among 82 players ahead of the final round.

IHSAA released Week 8 football rankings showing four area teams: Grundy Center was 2nd in 1A, Wapsie Valley was 5th in Class A, Gladbrook-Reinbeck was 3rd and Don Bosco was 8th in 8-Man.

In the second RPI rankings for Classes 5A, 4A and 3A, Cedar Falls finished 8th in 5A—the top 16 teams qualify for playoffs.

The Wartburg women’s golf team finished 3rd in the American Rivers Conference Championships on October 14, with former Go-Hawk Brenna Bodensteiner earning All-Conference honors — while teammate Mummelthei was named Honorable Mention.

The result marked a strong performance for the team.

Tuesday night, the top-ranked Denver Cyclones with a 43-1 record played against the only team to beat them, the 10th ranked Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougars (22-12 record) on Y99.3 presented by Jerry Roling Motors.
