- ➤ Yesterday at Waukee Northwest, Cedar Falls upset third seeded Johnston 5-3 in the quarterfinals of the 2A Girls State Team Tennis Tournament and will face West Des Moines Valley in the semifinals. In the 1A tournament in Pella, Dike-New Hartford beat Spencer 5-3 in the quarterfinals and will play top-seeded Cedar Rapids Xavier as matches start today at 9 a.m. Iowa's Corn Country
- ➤ On October 7th, Metro schools played volleyball with Cedar Falls visiting Dubuque Hempstead, Waterloo West hosting Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Waterloo East facing Mason City, Waterloo Columbus traveling to Grundy Center, and Cedar Ridge Christian playing Janesville. In other sports, Waterloo Columbus ran in the Wolverine Invitational at Dike-New Hartford — and Cedar Falls hosted Iowa City High in girls swimming and diving. Iowa's Corn Country
- ➤ District meets took place yesterday at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls for high school boys to earn berths to the State Golf Meet, with Cedar Rapids Xavier winning the team title at 291 while Cedar Falls finished 4th with a score of 301—two strokes short of the team qualifying mark as Ethan Boyle and Drew Larimer, along with Waterloo West’s Jay McCausland, graduated individually.
