UNI ROTC will remain on campus under a new Army structure after officials and the Iowa National Guard worked to keep training on campus.
Cadets will complete all four years of training here and join the University of Iowa ROTC program while UNI prepares to celebrate its 40th year at Homecoming.
Today, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its latest volleyball rankings — Waverly-Shell Rock is ranked #8 in Class 4A, Denver remains #1 in Class 2A with Sumner-Fredericksburg and Wapsie Valley at #11 and #12, and Janesville and Dunkerton round out Class 1A at #4 and #9.
Metro high school volleyball saw Cedar Falls, ranked ninth in 5A, sweep Dubuque Wahlert in three sets while Cedar Rapids Prairie, ranked fifteenth in 5A, defeated Waterloo West and Hudson beat Waterloo Columbus in four sets.
In boys golf Cedar Falls won the annual Metro Meet with a score of 299—Leyton Langan and Drew Larimer tied for medal honors at 74—while in girls swimming top-ranked Cedar Falls beat Linn-Mar 118 to 67.
On Wednesday night, The Roling Ford Locker Room aired live from the Waverly Pizza Ranch on Y99.3—featuring interviews with Waverly-Shell Rock football players and coaches and Wartburg football coach Chris Winter.
Tuesday night in college volleyball, UNI beat Iowa State in four sets - 25-20, 26-28, 25-19, 25-19.
On Tuesday hundreds of cross country athletes raced in Waverly at the Dick Pollitt Invitational—Denver’s Jesse Gomez won the boys Fresh/Soph race while Waverly-Shell Rock competitors placed with Aliya Gritters finishing 12th and Bella Engelhardt 17th in the girls events.
Tuesday night on Y99.3, the Sumner-Fredericksburg volleyball team swept Wapsie Valley 25-23, 25-19, and 28-26 in a high school match.
Addi Murray led with 18 kills while Taylor Schneider had 13, proving a strong performance by the Cougars.
