CRIME NEWS

  • A Waterloo woman, 20-year-old Jaydrionna Carter, was arrested on March 4 for stabbing Keely Morrissey during an early morning fight, and she has been charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury (her actions injured the ribs, abdomen, and arms).  Y99.3
  • Madison Clay, a 28-year-old Cedar Falls woman, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing copper from a farm near Goodell in Hancock County—cell phone data linked her to the offense on three occasions in April and three others were charged for similar crimes.  Y99.3
  • Cedar Falls Public Safety investigated alleged vandalism at Cedar Ridge Christian School from Wednesday night into Thursday when security photos and videos showed two individuals repeatedly damaging auxiliary buildings, and a new Hansen Elementary playground suffered fire damage + school head Ryan Hall is asking anyone with further information or footage from West Eighth Street to contact authorities.  Y99.3

  • Cedar Falls will host HUD Region VII RA Joseph Mitchell on Tuesday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m. plus he will discuss local housing projects, tour the community, and meet city officials at a press conference later that day.  City of Cedar Falls
  • Starting on Monday, September 8, Cedar Falls Public Works Department will close the inside northwest-bound lane of Waterloo Road for repair work from a previous water main leak + crews expect repairs to last one week pending weather.  City of Cedar Falls

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, Iowa State hosts Iowa for the battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy on Y99.3—pre-game is set for 9:00 a.m. and kickoff begins at 11:00 a.m.  Y99.3
  • +On Thursday, Metro high schools played in several sports as Aplington Parkersburg swept Waterloo Columbus Catholic in volleyball and Cedar Ridge Christian beat Tripoli in three sets, while Cedar Falls won 9-0 against Waterloo West and Waterloo Columbus defeated Ankeny 9-2 in girls tennis. Linn Mar won the boys golf meet at Finkbine Golf Course and Gladbrook Reinbeck improved to 2-0 with a 78-6 football win over Meskwaki Settlement.+  Iowa's Corn Country
  • Wartburg College football will kick off today on KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3 as the 9th ranked Knights host the Monmouth College Scots— a Countdown to Kickoff Show starts at 6:00 p.m. with the game set to begin at 7:00 p.m.  Y99.3
