A postal carrier in Waterloo prevented a large fire at an apartment complex at 1642 E.
Mitchell Avenue by spotting flames in an outdoor outlet and calling for help—crews quickly put out the fire with no injuries reported.
🎭 Culture
The Des Moines Gamer Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cedar Falls Public Library.
🏈 Sports
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its latest volleyball rankings, placing Cedar Falls 9th in Class 5A while area teams in Classes 2A and 1A like Union at 3rd and Janesville at 4th are also listed.
The rankings show teams such as Grundy Center, Dike-New Hartford, and Gladbrook-Reinbeck — highlighting a competitive season in local high school volleyball.
The Rec posted a notice on September 4—fall sports programs will soon offer team play opportunities for local residents.
