COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cedar Falls will hold its second annual Spooktober with workshops, film screenings, and youth programs from local centers as activities run through October, and trick-or-treat will be held on October 31 from 6:00 p.m.+8:00 p.m. Residents are urged to follow safety tips during the celebrations.  City of Cedar Falls

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday morning, Cedar Falls Public Safety responded to a call near South Prairie Lake's boat ramp after a citizen reported a partially submerged car at about 6:30—responders helped the lone driver exit safely and transported them to hospital for evaluation as the investigation remains ongoing.  Y99.3

CRIME NEWS

  • A Waterloo man, 40-year-old Darion Halliburton, was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an Uber driver on Feb 10th when he threatened her with a handgun & forced her into his Dawson Street home for over three hours, & DNA and physical evidence linking him as he faces up to 35 years in prison when sentencing is scheduled.  Y99.3

  • On Friday night, Y99.3 aired the Cedar Valley Football Game of the Week when the Wapsie Valley Warriors hosted the Denver Cyclones—pregame began at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff was at 7:00 p.m.  Y99.3
  • On Thursday night the top-ranked Denver Cyclone volleyball team defended its state title by sweeping Charles City 25–11, 25–11 and beating New Hampton 25–10, 25–12 as shown on KWAY Country—demonstrating its strong performance against both opponents.  Y99.3
  • On Friday evening, Waverly-Shell Rock football was broadcast on KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3 presented by Roling Ford as the Go-Hawks began the Cal Twait Era against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays with a pregame at 6:45 and kickoff at 7:00.  Y99.3
  • Iowa football will be broadcast on Y99.3 today as the Hawkeyes host Albany with a pregame at 3:00 p.m. and kickoff at 5:00 p.m.  Y99.3
