Cedar Falls brothers competed on American Ninja Warrior—Ben Behrends won his head-to-head round against his younger brother in a new twist to the course challenge.

The high school boys’ fall golf season begins today as Cedar Falls and Waterloo West tee off at a Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet in Waterloo at 10:30—Waterloo East starts its season at Bright Grandview Golf Course in Des Moines at 3:30.

UNI football coach Todd Stepsis named junior Matthew Schecklman as the starting quarterback for the Panthers season opener against Butler after he beat senior Aidan Dunne and junior Jaxon Dailey in a three-way race.

Schecklman played in nine games last season—throwing 107 passes for 1,276 yards and seven touchdowns.
