Yesterday, the 6th-ranked Cedar Falls Tigers girls tennis team beat Iowa City High 9-0 to earn their first win of the season and even their record to 1-1 — a boost as they prepare to play future matches.

Today the Cedar Rapids Gazette released its preseason high school volleyball rankings—eight area schools are in the polls across three classes.

In Class 5A, Cedar Falls placed 5th; in Class 2A, Denver led with Union 4th, Grundy Center 6th, Aplington-Parkersburg 9th, and Jesup 10th; and in Class 1A, Janesville and Dunkerton ranked 4th and 5th respectively.
