Owen Sawyer, a Cedar Falls native and Iowa State junior, won the 123rd Iowa Amateur Men's Golf Championship by finishing 12 under par and eight strokes ahead of a three way tie for second.
His win earns him an exemption to the 125th U.S. Amateur set for August 11th through the 17th in San Francisco.
Three-star Wisconsin prep Zavier Zens has announced his verbal commitment to UNI men's basketball.
The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 22 points, six rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while helping Wisconsin Lutheran win a state title and was named to the Division I All-State Team.
