On Monday, the Bremer County Fair offered a 4-H/FFA Horse show at 9:00 a.m., Bingo at noon, a food vendor row at 4:30 p.m., a carnival at 5:00 p.m. and free rides with Figure 8 races at 7:00 p.m., drawing community members to enjoy local traditions.
The Courier is inviting nominations for its 25th annual 20 Under 40 awards, which honor promising young community and business leaders.
The awards aim to celebrate local talent and inspire future success.
🎓 Education
Waverly-Shell Rock’s Jack Wedemeier was named to the Academic All-State Second Team by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association on Monday, July 27.
🏈 Sports
The Iowa Girls Coaches Association announced its All District Teams today, honoring local student-athletes from Clarksville, Don Bosco, Dunkerton, Denver, Sumner-Fredericksburg, and Wapsies Valley while coach Austin Jeanes was named Coach of the Year in Class 2A + the honors showcase our community’s strong athletic spirit.
On Friday, the Clarksville Indians defeated Edgewood-Colesburg (5-2) to claim back-to-back Class 1A State Softball Championships with Captain Eve Jordan hitting a decisive 2-run home run.
Sydney Lovrien and Catelynn Lodge also joined the All Tournament Team.
