- ➤ A 15-year-old from Waterloo was charged with involuntary manslaughter for firing an AR-15 that killed 20-year-old A’Tarion Spates on July 6th when people gathered at Spates’ home to shoot for fun (the teen also faces a charge of willful injury causing serious injury after another round struck a woman who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries). - ➤ A Waterloo man, 41-year-old Neven Soknic, was reported missing on July 9 and his body was found by a fisherman north of the Cassville ferry landing in the Mississippi River on Saturday— officials are awaiting toxicology results after an autopsy by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office, with no foul play suspected.
