- ➤ On Monday night, the Waverly-Shell Rock boys soccer team defeated Central Iowa United 10-1 after a 65-minute lightning delay. Gavin Bockholt scored 4 goals, Brock Kuhse had a hat trick, and three others scored—team now set to face #4 Urbandale in the Sub-State Semifinals next Tuesday. Y99.3
- ➤ Waverly-Shell Rock boys won their district golf tournament Monday with a 299 score plus Tyler Gade earned medalist honors with a 71. The team qualified for the state tournament for the third year in a row and will compete next Tuesday and Wednesday at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls. Y99.3
- ➤ On Tuesday night, Y99.3 broadcast the Columbus Sailors boys soccer game as they traveled to face the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals with a pre-match at 6:45 p.m. and a 7:00 p.m. kickoff, and the winner will play at Hudson next Tuesday. Monday night, the Columbus girls soccer team overcame lightning delays and heavy rain to beat West Delaware 7-0 in a game dubbed (Midnight in Manchester) that featured a hat trick by Alex Quam, two goals by Claire Schaefer, and one goal each from Hayden Schmitz and Rachel Knepper.
