COMMUNITY NEWS

  • RAGBRAI will arrive in Cedar Falls on July 24 as an overnight stop that will bring thousands of bicyclists and visitors to the city. Local residents and businesses are asked to review the route overview and plan ahead—traffic and pedestrian activity will increase downtown.  City of Cedar Falls
  • The Cedar Valley Stamp Club is holding a blue chip stamp auction today at the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa that will begin at 7 p.m.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • A Waterloo man identified as Dawan Taylor was arrested early Monday morning when police stopped his Dodge Journey in the 700 block of Logan Avenue for a malfunctioning license plate light, and officers later found cash and 14 bags of crack that led to charges of eluding, possession of crack with intent to deliver, and a violation of the drug tax stamp act.  Y99.3
  • A Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy stopped a Cedar Falls man driving under the influence on Saturday and charged him with OWI 1st offense, Littering Upon a Highway, and Open Container, and Christopher Wolfe (51) is held in Fayette County Jail.  Y99.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Starting this fall, Dr. Walter Cunningham School for Excellence will begin classes one hour later to save $450,000 on busing costs—a change that will lower school expenses.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The alley from West 12th Street to Waterloo Road between Bluff Street and Utility Parkway in Cedar Falls will close for reconstruction beginning Thursday—construction crews will rebuild it.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
