- ➤ Community members in Cedar Falls may join the Annual Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday by placing a bag of non-perishable food next to their mailbox for collection by their letter carrier — the drive aims to help those in need. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On May 3 at about 5:02 a.m., Cedar Falls police went to Dupaco Community Credit Union on Brandilynn Blvd after an ATM was damaged; + eight minutes later, a witness saw a suspect using a Telelift to load an ATM into a pickup near Menards, leading to a chase that ended north of Lone Tree Road where John Fitzgerald Bennet, 55, was arrested on charges including 1st Degree Theft, criminal mischief, theft of a motor vehicle, felony eluding and traffic violations +. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Beginning Monday at 9:00 a.m., the northbound lane of 1st Street NW near the Nestle Beverage plant was closed as contractors repaired the street. The closure may continue for part of the week—traffic signals managed alternating traffic in the west lane and drivers were advised to allow extra travel time. Y99.3

- ➤ Today is National Nurses Day as Nurses Week runs from May 6-12 and honors nurses for caring for patients and supporting their team—area nurses from local hospitals and programs have been recognized for their dedication.
