- ➤ Organizers of the Sturgis Falls Celebration announced that primary entertainment will shift from Gateway Park to the Cedar Falls Historic Downtown District—other attractions like the carnival and classic car show will stay at their usual sites. The free festival runs from June 27 to 29 and will feature live music from bands including the Pork Tornadoes, a Queen tribute band, a Beatles tribute band and a Top 40 cover band. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Diamond Star Academy, a new secular K–8 school focused on science-based and social-emotional learning, will soon take over the Waterloo Christian building at 1307 W. Ridgeway Ave—while Waterloo Christian School moves to the former Cedar Falls High School building and is renamed Cedar Ridge Christian School. - ➤ Cedar Falls will honor its fallen firefighters during the NFFF 44th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg from May 3 to May 4 as Mayor Danny Laudick will issue a proclamation at the Public Safety Center on May 3 at 10:00 a.m.—local buildings will lower flags and landmarks will be lit red in tribute.
