🚨 Crime
Waterloo City Councilmember Nikole Wilder had her theft charges dropped after being accused of using an app to scan and delete items at Walmart in Des Moines in November—Polk County Attorney’s Office dismissed the case with prejudice and required Wilder to pay $100 in court costs.
🎓 Education
The Cedar Falls board approved the high school principal's resignation today—official sources said a search for a new principal will begin soon.
🏛️ Government
Beginning Monday, May 5th, the city's contractor PCI will replace a box culvert and close Katoski Drive for construction.
The work is expected to take about two-months and a detour route is available.
A water main replacement project will take one month at the Rainbow Drive and Maynard Avenue intersections on Greenhill Road—local crews will begin work soon to start the update.
Today, one lane on West Fourth between Allen and Western is closed for pavement repairs—drivers should expect slower traffic—as repair work continues.
Beginning Monday, May 5, the city's contractor Boomerang Corp will close West Ridgeway Avenue from Hudson Road to Chancellor Drive to start pavement removal for the Creekside Business Park project.
The closure is expected to last roughly seven (7) months, weather permitting.
