The county sheriff has requested $1.5 million to build a new evidence facility in partnership with Waterloo Police—this request comes after its impound garage for crime scene vehicles was deemed unsafe in 2022 for lacking running water, ventilation, heating, and air conditioning.
The proposed facility will meet updated safety standards for evidence storage.

Thursday evening, the Denver Cyclones hosted the Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons in a boys soccer match on Y99.3 — kickoff took place at 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, college baseball Iowa beat St. Thomas 15-5 and college softball Iowa shut out Drake 4-0 with both wins boosting team momentum for upcoming events.
On Thursday night, the Go-Hawk girls (5‑0 versus 3‑2) hosted the New Hampton Chickasaws at the former Wartburg lacrosse turf field on KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3 while the Go-Hawk boys (2‑4‑1 versus 1‑6) hosted the Chickasaws.
