- ➤ A 19 year old from Vinton was arrested for allegedly faking a hostage situation in Evansdale to avoid trouble with his parents—police evacuated a Kwik Star on West Gilbert Drive after he claimed to have been held at gunpoint and his friends said he made the story up. Y99.3

- ➤ The Hawkeye Community College board approved issuing $4.39 million in industrial new job training certificates to Piper Sandler & Co. of Minneapolis, one of three bidders, and the funds will be repaid with interest. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

- ➤ A public ‘empty chair’ town hall will be held at Hoover Middle School Saturday at 2:30 p.m.—U.S. Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst are invited to attend. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

- ➤ The Janesville School District will add Esports (competitive video gaming) with three seasons in Fall, Winter, and Spring, joining 113 schools including Cedar Falls as the program runs every school year except summer. Y99.3
- ➤ Emma Hoins (a former Waverly-Shell Rock runner and current UNI Panther) was named the Missouri Valley Conference’s Woman’s Track Athlete of the Week; it is the first such honor in her UNI career (marking a milestone for her). Y99.3
