EDUCATION NEWS

  • At its meeting Monday night, the Waterloo School Board considered changing high school boundaries so that students living north of the river attend East High to balance enrollment—if approved, the new boundaries will go into effect next school year while the combined high school opens in Fall 2028.  Y99.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cedar Falls Public Safety will host the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 a.m. to noon at its building so residents can drop off unwanted or expired prescription drugs or request a home pick-up (remember to remove personal information from labels on original containers), while IV solutions, injectables, syringes, illegal drugs, and vape pens without removed batteries will not be accepted.  Y99.3
  • City of Cedar Falls is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms to draft a Falls Aquatic Center Enhancement Plan—aimed at guiding improvements at the center.  City of Cedar Falls

HEALTH NEWS

  • Free outdoor fitness classes will be offered at The Plaza for Cedar Falls residents this summer—details on scheduling and enrollment will be provided soon.  City of Cedar Falls

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Monday night, Y99.3 aired a high school boys soccer game when the Columbus Sailors hosted the Gladbrook-Reinbeck-Grundy Center Rebels. The pre-match started at 5:15 p.m. and the game kicked off at 5:30 p.m.  Y99.3
  • On Monday evening, the #1 ranked Waverly—Shell Rock girls soccer team with a 2—0 record faced the 3—0 Iowa Falls—Alden Cadets on KWAY Country with a pre-match at 5:15 and a kickoff at 5:30. Today, Go-Hawk boys track will run at Memorial Stadium in Waterloo at 3:30, boys golf will host Charles City at 4:00, girls golf will play in Denver at 4:15, both boys and girls tennis will compete at Grundy Center at 4:15, and girls track will be held at Cedar Falls at 4:30.  Y99.3
