CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested 39 year old Jill Denker from Evansdale and 47 year old Lucille Graham from Waterloo on Wednesday after they allegedly stole copper from Crystal Distribution by entering the warehouse at 3:30 a.m. and leaving four hours later with a bag of copper wire and tools—both face charges of third degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.  Y99.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Cedar Falls will host a public information meeting on Tuesday, April 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Public Works complex (2200 Technology Parkway) to present details on planned improvements at the Highway 57 and Union Road intersection.  City of Cedar Falls
  • Cedar Falls Public Safety will host the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Public Safety building on South Main Street - citizens can drop off expired or unused prescription drugs or call for an officer pick-up during the event.  City of Cedar Falls

SPORTS NEWS

  • Thursday on KWAY Country the top ranked Waverly Shell Rock girls beat third ranked Xavier 1 to 0 after Anaka Ott scored a penalty kick with 27:52 left. Later in high school sports the girls golf team defeated Mason City 189 to 233, the girls track team finished fourth at Decorah, the boys track team won the Dave Sage Relays, and the boys tennis team edged Cedar Falls 5 to 4.  Y99.3
  • Friday night, the Columbus Sailors traveled to play the Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons in a boys soccer match broadcast on Y99.3—pre-match started at 6:45 and kickoff occurred at 7:00.  Y99.3
  • Thursday night, Denver boys soccer beat Northeast Iowa United 10-0 after Tarek Knoblock scored five goals, Andrea Garello scored twice, and Brayton Hovey and Isak Froyum-Roise each netted one goal. Also, Denver girls soccer edged Dike-New Hartford 2-1—marking their third win over a ranked foe.  Y99.3
