ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A nine-year-old Waterloo boy was hit by an SUV when a Honda CRV driven by a 71-year-old man left the road on East Mullan Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. Friday — he died from his injuries — and the driver, found unconscious after crashing into a wall, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries as police investigate the accident. - ➤ A Cedar Falls man was arrested for stealing a golf simulator valued at $25,000 from Sunnyside Country Club when security cameras showed 33 year old Nurija Huebner loading the equipment into his Subaru Impreza—he now faces charges of first degree Theft and third degree Burglary and has a parole history for previous thefts. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Anna Pesek, co-owner of Over the Moon Farm, said that last month the USDA cut over $1 billion in funding for local food programs that schools and food banks relied on to buy fresh produce from small farms. She warned the funding loss could hurt Iowa farms’ local supply chains and make it harder for them to cover costs—jeopardizing a support system that helped build stronger business ties.
