- ➤ Cedar Falls launched its Adopt A Spot program—inviting residents to care for parks, green spaces and trails by picking up litter, notifying city staff when refuse bags need collection and reporting maintenance issues. The city will provide training and supplies and will recognize volunteers after one year with a sign and a certificate. City of Cedar Falls
- ➤ Zola is a pit bull who spent 600 days at Cedar Bend Humane Society and is now living with Kaleb Buhrow in Cedar Falls. The shelter hopes her new start will inspire adoptions for long-term residents—four other dogs reached 500 days last month. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

- ➤ Allen Media Group has announced leadership changes at KWWL—news director Andrew Altenbern was replaced by Lisa Burger after his contract expired. Burger will also oversee news for KIMT in Mason City and WREX in the Quad Cities—she was most recently with Nexstar in Sacramento and Fresno. Y99.3
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Over the weekend, 51 teams from 8 states competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition at the McLeod Center. Local teams from Columbus High, Cedar Falls High, and Waterloo East and West earned awards — the Swartdogs won the Excellence in Engineering Award, Unity4Tech received the Judge's Award, and The Coded Collective earned the Rising All-Star Award — as students gained valuable robotics experience. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cedar Falls will host Earth Week activities from April 16-22 to promote neighborhood cleanups, conservation efforts, and environmental education, and the city will hold its first Earth Fair on April 12 at Gateway Park (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) offering workshops, craft activities for kids, free lunch, and giveaways like prairie seed packets and tree saplings. - ➤ A trio of Wartburg athletes were honored as Lauren Funk earned 2nd Team All-American honors at the Collegiate Club National Championships — making her the first All-American bowler in Wartburg history — while Sydney Fellows received American Rivers Conference weekly honors and Hannah Luellen was named Softball Pitcher of the Week.
