- ➤ At Cedar Falls' Diamond Event Center, the 19th annual MercyOne breakfast awards ceremony honored eleven individuals and one rescue dog for their community service and heroic actions. - ➤ Basket of Daisies, a Cedar Falls home store at 116 Main Street run by Carlene Danielsen for over twelve years, will close on April 8th as it holds a moving sale with 50% off home decor and 30% off Norwalk furniture—shoppers are urged to visit soon. - ➤ A Cedar Falls man was arrested for an alleged cat burglary and harassment — he threatened to kill the cat if the victim went to the police. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
- ➤ A 27-year-old Florida man named Keyshaun King was arrested for allegedly swindling a Fairbank couple out of $13,000 by posing as an attorney and claiming their daughter was jailed after an accident with a pregnant woman — security cameras in Belle Plaine helped police track his rental car. - ➤ 39-year-old Darion Halliburton from Waterloo was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an Uber driver after he summoned her ride just before midnight on February 10th, showed a handgun, and forced her into a home on Dawson Street where he held her for over three hours—he faces second degree Sexual Abuse charges and was on federal supervised release after a 2008 crack cocaine case. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Beginning Monday, March 31 the City will start work on a new trail along the south side of East Viking Road between Andrea Drive and Prairie Parkway. The contractor will require a lane closure for eastbound traffic and will close Saints Drive as work takes about one month toward a full closure of the Prairie Parkway and Viking Road intersection in mid-May.
