- ➤ The Hearst Center for the Arts is hosting a free Business of Art series for creative entrepreneurs led by experts. - ➤ Rodney Carrington will perform at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on Saturday, August 9 — his comedy tour is set to draw a crowd. - ➤ The City of Cedar Falls is planning burns at several local sites this week—at North Cedar Natural Resource along Longview Street on Wednesday and at wetland and prairie areas on Hudson Road and near Pheasant Drive—to control invasive species and restore native plant communities. - ➤ Cedar Falls' Gateway River Park will offer river surfing classes on June 9 or June 23 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Experienced guides from CrawDaddy Outdoors will provide gear and teach river safety, basic surf techniques and how to read eddylines for participants 10 years and older.
